Dismasted Sailboat "Wanderer" : This sailboat's forward mast was dismasted and the aft mast severely damaged by a shrimp boat while the sailboat was at anchor for the night in the South Newport River in South Georgia; just off the ICW. The shrimper's rigging smashed the boat and then the shrimper left the scene. The DNR responded to the distress call and found the shrimper who tried to say the sailboat ran into him despite the obvious broken anchor line trailing the sailboat. The sailor had the normal anchor light system on at the time. The first five photos of the sailboat were taken at anchor off of the Jekyll Harbor Marina in fog at Jekyll Island, Georgia in Jekyll Creek. The next two were taken later while some more of the wreckage was being cleared. The next set of the photos are of the Wanderer at Langs Marina in St. Marys, Georgia where she was going to be re-fitted. A change in plan was going to be to have the sail boat freighted over land to the Great Lakes (?) where she was be rebuilt to her prime condition- was the intention. The rest of the images are taken in the East River of Brunswick, Georgia where over time it looks like she has met her final fate. This sail boat was one of the last built in America to carry freight. Let's wish her all the best in her next life! Well, there is to be no next life. She has lanquished and rotted away. Finally, she was broken up, placed in a dumpster, and hauled away to a dump. The saga is over. May she Rest In Peace.

Sea Witch Bottom 01-22-08 TW : Sea Witch hauled out on 01-22-08 for Bottom Paint Job near Brunswick, Georgia. Last in-water cleaning of hull and running gear on 12-26-08. 20 days were at Golden Isle Marina in salt water and 7 days were at Two Way Marina in brackish water. This is 27 days growth? Last bottom paint job was 14 months ago - but boat remained out of water for 2 months before splashing.
